The New Mexico State Veterans' Home offers three levels of care to honorably discharged veterans of the U.S. armed forces. NMSVH offers skilled nursing care, routine nursing care and adult residential care including independent living assistance.
The New Mexico State Veterans' Home, the only veterans' home in New Mexico, strives to provide integrated services in an atmosphere that promotes the physical, social and emotional well-being of every resident. Every effort to continuously improve care shall be made while safely assisting residents to live as independently as possible and as they choose, thereby assuring dignity and respect at all times.
The New Mexico State Veterans' Home is centrally located in southeastern New Mexico, half way between Albuquerque and El Paso. Nestled in the Rio Grande Valley, the New Mexico State Veterans' Home is situated on 12 beautifully landscaped acres, overlooking one of the southwest's outstanding retirement communities: Truth or Consequences.
Truth or Consequences has long been known for its healing hot mineral springs, pure air and water and one of the finest recreational areas of the southwest - Elephant Butte Lake.
In 1983 the New Mexico Legislature responded to appeals from the veterans' associations and renovated the current facility and created the Veterans' Home to serve its veteran population.
The
New Mexico State Veterans' Home offers a full time nursing, dietary, medical, pharmacy, recreation, housekeeping, social services and administrative staff to fulfill every need that arises.
The New Mexico State Veterans' Home has 167 licensed beds that can serve every level of care from Domiciliary (residential) to Intermediate Care (nursing home) to Skilled Nursing (more acute care).
Should the need arise for Rehabilitation, the New Mexico State Veterans' Home can assist you through their Rehabilitation Department that utilizes an indoor therapy pool that is supplied by hot mineral water from their local springs and offers all types of physical, occupational and speech therapy.
With the need to provide specialized services on the rise, the New Mexico State Veterans' Home has taken the initiative and has a secured Alzheimer's/dementia unit that provides services for 22 veterans' in need. The unit is complete with its own dining room, nursing and housekeeping staff, and a lovely outdoor patio area complete with garden area.
